چکیده
Crohns disease is characterized by chronic intestinal inflammation and not rarely by extraintestinal manifestations. Psoas abscess and fistula is a rare complication of Crohns disease, which is sometimes difficult to diagnose in the early stage. We describe the case of a 22-year-old male patient with Crohns disease who presented to us with difficulty in walking and pain in the area of the right hip. A MRI scan of the hip joints was negative for aseptic necrosis of the head of femur. An ultrasound examination of the lower abdomen was also negative, as were the X-rays of the sacral bone and sacroiliac joints. The patient was treated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents but his condition worsened and he developed diarrhoea. Subsequently, he developed fever and local tenderness of soft tissues of the right hip and buttock. A C/T scan at this stage revealed a psoas abscess and a fistula in the area of psoas muscle. The patient was treated with antibiotics and octreotide and his condition improved dramatically and the symptoms resolved. The differential diagnosis of sudden onset of claudication and pain in the hip in a patient with Crohns disease should include the presence of a psoas abscess.

Mycotic aortic aneurysms account for 1–3% of all aortic aneurysms. The management of this disease is controversial. Since open surgical repair is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates, endovascular aneurysm repair is an alternative treatment method with promising early and midterm outcomes, although its long-term durability is unknown.Secondary aortoenteric fistulas may occur iatro...
متن کاملA case report of a septic hip secondary to a psoas abscess
Psoas abscess was first described by Mynter in 1881. Though rare, its prevalence is increasing with advances in radiology and an increasing ability to accurately diagnose the condition. The symptoms of a psoas abscess can be insidious and nonspecific, and patients often present with a limp, fever, weight loss, and flank or abdominal pain.A psoas abscess can be classified as either primary or se...
متن کاملPsoas abscess with septic arthritis of the hip: a case report.
Psoas abscess associated with septic arthritis of the hip is unusual in infants. A 12-month-old infant presented with the complaints of fever, left hip pain and limp. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed left psoas abscess accompanied by septic arthritis of the hip. In this report, we present a case of psoas abscess with hip septic arthritis in an infant, and we describe the clinical and radiolo...

Cutaneous Crohn’s disease (CCD) is a relatively rare disease. Two-thirds of the affected patients are female with a mean age of onset of 35 years. CCD is divided into a genital type and an extra-genital type, each with their own unique different clinical manifestations. The usual presentation of genital Crohn’s disease (CD) is in the form of erythema and edema of the labia and scrotum. Here, we...
